For server owners

Make your Jellyfin server Altffour-ready

Altffour apps work with any Jellyfin server out of the box. Add the Altffour Companion plugin and the extras switch on by themselves for everyone who uses your server.

What Companion adds

Everything stays on your server

Companion runs inside your own Jellyfin. It answers from your library, keeps its cache on your disk and needs no outside account.

Fast pages

Home, library grids, title pages and search come back in one cached answer each, instead of a dozen separate requests. Each viewer's pages refresh the moment their watched state or favourites change. With a catalog plugin like Gelato, film pages open sooner than in Jellyfin's own web app (how we measured).

Resized artwork

Posters and backdrops are resized to the size each screen needs (WebP where supported) and cached, so phones download a fraction of the data.

Home discovery rows

Rows like Trending and Top 10, from a catalogue list you choose, matched to what's actually in your library.

Skip intros, recaps and credits

Finds the markers and saves them as Jellyfin media segments, so every Jellyfin client that supports segments can use them, not just Altffour.

Disk or Redis cache

The cache lives on disk by default and survives restarts. Already run Redis? Paste a connection string in the settings and Companion uses it instead.

Film and show requests

Members ask for films and shows that aren't on the server yet. Admins approve them, and members see each request through to Play. Works with Seerr, or straight with Radarr and Sonarr.

Hidden when it's not there

Apps ask your server which features it has. Without Companion they still work fully, just without the extras.

Install

Three steps, about a minute

Needs Jellyfin 12.1 or newer (tested on 12.1 and 12.2), and an admin account on the server.

  1. In Jellyfin, open Dashboard → Plugins → Repositories and add a repository with this address:
    https://plugins.altffour.com/manifest.json
  2. Open the Catalog, choose Altffour Companion and install it.
  3. Restart Jellyfin. Settings are under Dashboard → Plugins → Altffour Companion: discovery rows, skip-marker lookups, cache sizes and an optional Redis connection.
Does it work with my own files?

Yes. Altffour shows whatever is in your Jellyfin libraries: your own films and shows, home videos, music and books, however you add them. You don't need any other plugin. Companion is optional and only adds the extras above.

Does Companion change anything for other Jellyfin apps?

Only for the better: the skip markers it saves are standard Jellyfin media segments that any client supporting them can use. Everything else is used only when an Altffour app asks for it.

Does it send my library anywhere?

No. Companion answers from your own server. To find skip markers it can look titles up with public marker services (AniSkip, IntroDB), and it reads the catalogue address you set for discovery rows. You can turn each of those off.

My server runs Jellyfin 10.10 or 10.11.

Altffour apps still work with it, without the Companion extras. Companion needs Jellyfin 12.1 or newer.

How do updates work?

New versions appear in your Jellyfin plugin catalogue from the same repository. Each version's notes are listed on plugins.altffour.com.
